Low Vision

At our Low Vision clinic, we use the latest technology to conduct a non-mydriatic retinal screening with our retinograph.

This examination is fast, reliable, and does not require the use of dilating eye drops.

If we detect any findings that require ophthalmological attention, we will refer you to a specialist for diagnosis and treatment, while as Low Vision specialists we will evaluate the usefulness of visual aids in your particular case.

If you already have a diagnosed pathology, please bring all medical reports to your appointment so that we can evaluate your case and progression accurately and personalized. The more information we have, the better we can assist you.

To undergo a LOW VISION examination, it is necessary to schedule an appointment in advance. This examination lasts approximately an hour and a half and is performed using specific instrumentation for low vision. During the evaluation, a series of tests will be carried out to determine the visual needs of the patient and the necessary increases for both distant and near vision will be calculated, in order to design a personalized visual aid that adapts to the needs and priorities of the patient.

In addition, therapeutic filters will be evaluated, which are often very helpful in low vision by improving contrast and reducing the symptoms of glare, commonly experienced by patients.

At the end of the evaluation, the patient will be given a report with the results of each test performed, as well as the recommendations and solutions proposed by our low vision specialists. This report will sometimes be sent to ophthalmologists if we deem it necessary.

If you have limited mobility or cannot leave your home, at Amati Óptica Clínica we offer you an alternative that may be very useful: the home visit. This way, we can get to know you better, evaluate your environment, and offer you solutions adapted to your specific needs.

At Amati Óptica Clínica, we offer a Visual Rehabilitation program for individuals who have experienced difficulties in visual tasks such as reading or crafting due to visual problems or cognitive impairment caused by degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s.
During the program, we work on developing visual skills, including eye motility, hand-eye coordination, peripheral vision, eccentric fixation, and other specific skills.
The goal is to improve the patient’s quality of life and increase their independence in daily activities.
